Moldova Steel Works was commissioned in January, 1985. Since starting operation the plant persistently and successfully improves its products to meet more and more diversifying requirements of the international market. The designed capacity of the plant was 684 000 t of crude steel and 500 000 t of rolled products per year.

 - The state-of-the-art process units : Moldova Steel Works is a young enterprise (20 years old), wearing of the main equipment constitutes not more than 25%. The plant operates a highly productive 120t EAF with a capacity of more than 1 000 000 t of crude steel per year, a ladle-furnace installation, a vacuum degasser, a six strand CCM, a two-line rolling mill, with STELMOR line of 144 m long and a high-speed wire bloc (120 m/sec), "Line 100" packing line, with provisions for piece counting, when required by a customer.
 - High flexibility of the production process : It means a capability of a quick shift from one steel grade to another as well as from one type of product to another;
 - Skilled and qualified management;
 - Stable position on the steel market;
 - High value of the inputs and a large turnover (the annual turnover is more than USD 500 mln.);

 - Favourable location of the plant, which is about 260 km far from the Black Sea ports and 200 km far from the Eastern European markets.
 According to the design the plan was supposed to meet the demand on the Moldavian market and the neighbouring Ukrainian regions. After the collapse of the Soviet Union the plant entered the steel international markets.
 Given the current situation on the steel markets and the opportunities faced by MSW, the top management aims at strengthening positions of the plant as of a reliable producer and supplier of a high quality cord and cable wire rod and bars on the targeted markets, and at increasing sales of competitive steel products in conformity with national and international standards. A deep study of the market trends and of the plant's position on the market allowed our top management to take a decision on modernisation and technical upgrading of the plant.

The main range of production of Moldova Steel Works includes:
 - Merchant continuous cast billets to major international standards and Customers requirements, with cross section of 125x125 mm,and from 8m to 12 m long;
 - Reinforcing steel bars in cut lengths and in coils with nominal diameters 6- 40 mm in steel grades BST 500 to DIN 448, 250 & 460 В to BS 4449, FeB 500 to ЕN 80 & ЕN 82, 60(420) to ASTM A 615/A 615 M , Ат 420 & 440 to TU 14-150298-93, 35GS to GOST 5781-82, Аt 400, Аt 500, Аt 600, Аt 800, Аt 1000 to GOST 10884-94, Bst 550 to ONORM B 4200 and others;
 - Round rolled products in cut lengths ( 10-22 mm) and in coils ( 5,5-14 mm) in steel grades RST 37-2, ST 44-2, ST 50-2 to DIN 17200, 250 to BS 4449, SAE 1006-1075 to ASTM A 510, St 3sp to GOST 30136 and others;
 - High ductility wire rod in low carbon steel grades for deep direct drawing;
 - Welding quality wire rod in low carbon alloyed steel grades for manufacturing wire and electrodes;
 - Wire rod in high carbon steel grades for manufacturing springs, ropes, prestressed concrete wire, piston rings for motors, cord;
