engineering for Omutninskii steel mill.
In 90-es CIS countries faced the situation when the establishment of new economic relations actually resulted in cessation of the state supporting and financing to the steel industry. That gradually destroyed the system of engineering and research institutes and construction organisations specialised in this field.
Meanwhile, the out-of-date obsolet equipment of steel plants which was used for decades without upgrading or modernisation reached its critical condition.
The new economic relations demanded alternative approaches in realising long-term complex technical projects, such as construction, modernisation or technical upgrade of steel producing units and devices. That paved the way for modern independent engineering companies that would render a package of the related services.
The establishment of an engineering department at Moldova Steel Works provides excellent opportunities to share the experience accumulated by MSW specialists in the field of steel engineering with those demanding it.
Generally, the staff of MSW engineering department includes five specialists. When working on a certain project, the department may attract engineers and create the respective working groups out of MSW skilled staff depending on the nature of work, its scope and schedule. Thus, all forces of the technical department may be attracted to achieve the set objectives under the project.
MSW engineering services cover the expert examination of steel making facilities; being a member of a Consortium by CJSC Novokramatorskii engineering plant (Ukraine), JSC Vniimetmash (Russia), OJSC Ukrghipromez, Moldova Steel Works participates in tenders on building and modernisation of steel plants and factories, prepares technical proposals on equipment up-grading, designing and manufacturing; it also arranges the supervision over works under the project from their beginning up to the commissioning. Furthermore, MSW arranges a theoretical and practical training of the Customer's personnel at Customer's and at MSW's sites.
Previously, at the Soviet time any enterprise when upgrading its production facilities had to use and implement processes or methods developed by this or that research institute and install equipment manufactured by one of the existing engineering plants. In those circumstances the enterprise had nothing but to build its own experience and learn by its own mistakes. As a consequence, every commissioned production unit required a certain period of trials to reach the design figures both for production processes and for the installed equipment. Sometimes such a period took up to ten years.
From the very set up the Consortium has given priorities to a complex approach to engineering projects, including timely and successful commissioning, ensured achievement of the design figures and parameters, training of the Customer's personnel on the site equipment, supervision and monitoring over the entire production process. Specialist from MSW are deeply involved in all these activities.
They accumulated the unique experience during numerous modernisation and up-grading works carried out in the major and auxiliary shops of Moldova Steel Works. This experience is maintaining stringent levels of the engineering services provided by MSW to Customers. All effected modernisation works have proved the higher creativity of MSW leading specialists that allows them to find successful solutions for various tasks in the field of steel making and rolling processes.
The higher activity and flexibility of MSW engineers in developing and realisation of advanced solutions gives them certain advantages over competitors, even big ones.
